And here is the Dacon 828. The rarest thing you are about to see today. What the hell you ask? Yes, it's from Brazil, with quite a lot of #Volkswagen involved. Dacon started as a #VW dealership, and in the 1970s they started to built prototypes for Volkswagen - soon offering an array of all sorts of modifications, based on the brazilian Passat and, of course, the Gol. The strangest was the 828. A luxurious #microcar, designed by Anisio Campos and Paulo Goulart of #Puma fame. The design screams #Porsche928, with the neat feature of vertically installed rear lights from a Volkswagen Kombi (the T1,5), giving the perfect impression of a... 928. The engine however came from VW, the 1600. It was a massive success with... 48 being built. And how on earth this ended up in Germany, I wish in knew. It was offered a while ago for 19.000€ and I hope, it does not found it's fate on a scrapyard. It was built and designed by the famed Italian designhouse and coachbuilder Carrozzeria Ghia, commissioned by Ford. The Quicksilver was a sedan, seated 5 passengers, that looked like a mix of a stretched hatchback and stationwagon. It had a long wheelbase and low, teardrop-shaped roofline that was designed to minimize the drag coefficient (0,30). The car wasn’t just a showpiece, it actually was built to be driveable. Oddly enough, its chassis came from a mid-engined English 2-door sports coupe known as the AC 3000ME, stretched like a limousine. It’s equipped by a Ford 2.8-liter V6 engine which sits transversely behind the second row of seats, which reduced rear cargo capacity. On the other hand, its frunk offered plenty of space up front. Not only the exterior was sensational, also take a look at the weird dashboard. The concept first turned up at the 1983 Geneva Auto Show, and eventually made its way into the hands of private collectors. This unusual car last turned up for sale at a 2014 Mecum auction, where it ultimately fetched just € 25.000,-. Keep in mind that this car is already 41 years old; it has aged well.
